Centara adds three properties in Krabi

Centara Krabi

CENTARA HOTELS & RESORTS is expanding its presence in the South Thailand province of Krabi following the signing of management contracts for three new properties within the same master development in Klong Muang, Krabi.

This brings to five the number of resorts under Centara management – Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa Krabi, Centara Pelican Bay Residence & Suites Krabi, and Centara Pelican Bay Villas Krabi.

Perry & Son Co Ltd is developing all three properties, with Centara signing the management contracts on Nov. 21, 2013.

Centara opened its first Krabi resort, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi, in 2006. A second resort, Centara Anda Dhevi Resort & Spa Krabi, followed this in 2012.

“Krabi has emerged as a prime tourist destination in recent years, and has enormous potential for the future,” says Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO, Centara Hotels & Resorts. “We are very proud to have been a leader in developing Krabi for visitors, and these three new ventures give us superb scope to add to our presence in this beautiful part of Thailand.”

Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts, says that the addition of the three properties will further help develop tourism to the region.
“The three resorts offer three different holiday styles within an area of outstanding natural beauty. They will give us a tremendous strategic marketing advantage, and will further raise the profile of Krabi as a quality destination.”

First to open will be Centara Pelican Bay Residence & Suites Krabi, which is currently in its pre-opening period and is due to have its soft opening before mid-2014. The property will have 92 residential units, with one restaurant, a swimming pool, a business corner and a beach club.

Design and planning for Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa Krabi will start in the middle of this year, with the soft opening due in the first quarter of 2017. The resort will have 210 rooms. Facilities will include two restaurants and a bar, a swimming pool with snack bar, a Spa Cenvaree, a banquet room, a business centre, a fitness centre, and a kids’ club.

Centara Pelican Bay Villas Krabi will be an all-villa resort. A mock-up villa has been completed, and master planning and construction will take place alongside Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa. The opening is expected to be at the same time.

Centara captures two more awards

centara Hua Hin award

CENTARA HOTELS & RESORTS has been recognized for its excellence by two major groups recently.

Centara Grand Beach Hua Hin was voted Top Hotel 2014 by travel website HolidayCheck, and Centara Grand Beach Phuket’s Spa Cenvaree was named Best Worldwide Wellness Spa by Spa Traveller Readers Choice Awards 2013.

In the case of HolidayCheck, the reviews of more than 980,000 holidaymakers were analyzed for the awards, which named a total of 389 winning hotels in six categories.

Centara Grand Beach Hua Hin, which originally opened in 1923 as the Railway Hotel, and which is a member of Leading Hotels of the World, won the awards for the number of reviews and the high ratings given to it by guests.

“Guest satisfaction is of course our number one priority, and to receive these two awards from HolidayCheck is a wonderful achievement as they are based on the true experiences of our guests,” says Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO, Centara Hotels & Resorts.

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin was the first resort hotel in Thailand, opening when the railway line was built from Bangkok to Malaysia. The hotel has been in the portfolio of Centara Hotels & Resorts since 1985 and has recently been renovated with every sensitivity towards its origins.

“We are always very much aware both of our heritage and the needs of our modern-day guests,” says the hotel’s general manager, Jacques Mury.

“To win these two awards is a matter of great pride for all of our staff here, and recognizes what a wonderful experience this lovely old hotel is for our guests.”

Commenting on the Spa Traveller 2013 awards, Mr. Chirathivat noted that “we are very proud of the success of our Spa Cenvaree brand, and this recognition of our sumptuous spa at Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket reflects the satisfaction of our guests, which is always our top priority.”

Elaine ChuaWith 10 treatment rooms offering facilities for singles and couples, the spa features a hot air sauna with an eucalyptus fragrance, a herbal steam room, and a Vichy shower providing remedies for metabolism problems and aching joints. The spa also provides an indoor relaxation area to enjoy herbal tea, and juices made from locally grown fruits.

“Spa Cenvaree is based on Thailand’s ancient heritage of natural healing and wellness, using traditional therapies and natural products, and utilizing a luxurious setting,” says Elaine Chua, Centara’s corporate director of spa operations.

“This has given us a distinct identity with both local residents and overseas visitors, and we are delighted to have won this award.”

Entries for the Spa Traveller Awards 2013 were compiled over a six-month period, when readers were asked to visit and vote for their favorite wellness spa, most romantic spa and best spa cuisine.

Centara Grand Modus Pattaya welcomes first guests

CGMP-His Excellency Mom Rajawongse Thepkamol Devakula

From the left: Kanokros Sakdanares, corporate director of marketing communications, Centara Hotels & Resorts, Privy Councillor Mom Rajawongse Thepkamol Devakula, his wife Khunying Kwanta Devakula and Panas Jureeratana, general manager, Centara Grand Modus Resort Pattaya.

THE FIVE-STAR CENTARA GRAND MODUS Resort Pattaya welcomed Privy Councillor Mom Rajawongse Thepkamol Devakula and his wife Khunying Kwanta Devakula as first guests at its soft opening.

His Excellency Mom Rajawongse Thepkamol Devakula is a former Thai Ambassador to France, has served as permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was a member of the Senate before being appointed to the Privy Council.

The resort, the third property under the premium Grand brand of Centara Hotels & Resorts, is located on the bay neighboring the Sanctuary of Truth, one of Pattaya’s most famous landmarks.

The exterior and interior design is the work of celebrated Thai architect Ratchavit Namthep, who has taken an abstract vision of an ocean-going liner for the exterior, and for the interiors has utilised a bold combination by maintaining the industrial character of the building’s natural finishes while blending elements from the classical past.

Furnishings include antique wooden tables, club-style leather sofas and chairs, nautical objects and fittings, vintage detailing, and elements from the ancient world.

Centara Grand Modus Resort & Spa Pattaya“Exploring the design of our resort is rather like a voyage of discovery,” says General Manager Panas Jureeratana. “This is completely unlike any other resort hotel in Thailand, and in design terms the only thing you can expect is the unexpected. “We believe that this highly creative approach launches a whole new era in resort design for Pattaya.”

The resort is one of the few in Pattaya that is located on the beach, occupying a bay that is closed off by rocky headlands from the other parts of Wong Amat Beach, creating a feeling of privacy and exclusivity to the resort.

There is a choice of 252 guestrooms. The 122 one, two-bedroom suites and penthouses feature ample living space, while the spacious Deluxe family residences include a children’s area with bunk beds and an airy living room offering self-catering facilities and excellent ocean views.

There are three swimming pools with a children’s pool, a Spa Cenvaree, a fitness centre, and a Kids’ Club with separate zones for the young ones and the teens.

Dining facilities include Modus Bistro, designed in trattoria style and serving Italian cuisine along with Asian and international favorites, while Breeze Beach Club is a versatile dining venue that serves comfort food during the day and becomes a lively beach club in the evenings.
