Family fun at Centara Grand West Sands Phuket

Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket Pool basketball

CENTARA GRAND WEST SANDS RESORT & VILLAS PHUKET, home to Splash Jungle, Phuket’s wildest, wettest water park, has launched a free activity program for families.

It has retained Carpe Diem Entertainment Company, the largest company in southeast Europe providing entertainment for tourists, to create and run a program for families with children designed to keep everyone happy and busy.

This applies to visitors from all around the world, as the resort provides multilingual services via staff that speak, in total, 15 languages.

Various activities at the resort are held seven days a week. Water aerobics are held daily by a Carpe Diem specialist in the largest of the resort’s pools, with an aqua gym in the morning, followed by water dancing in the afternoon.

Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket - Activity 2Before lunch, there’s a family fun contest at poolside, with games everyone can join in, such as ring tossing, sandals shooting and Muay Talay, or pipe wrestling.

On the beach and in the resort are activities and tournaments that include volleyball, football, archery, bowling, giant checkers and much more.

There’s also a Kids Club, with a zone for the youngsters of up to 10 years and a separate E-Zone game area for the older ones and the teens.

Professional supervisors play games with the young ones in the Kids Club or on the beach, leaving parents to spend a little time relaxing on their own.

Every youngster having a birthday during their stay can have his or her own party, while a regular favorite for the kids is Super Hero Day, that features lots of games.

The children also have their own mini disco in the evenings by the poolside, and for everyone there is the Comedy Cabaret Show, in which guests including children can take part.

Also free of charge to resort guests is the resort’s Splash Jungle, with its wave pool and 12 waterslides, including the Boomerango and Super Bowl thrill rides.

Carpe Diem, which was founded in 2002, along with its extensive experience in southeast Europe, has built a reputation for creating tourist events and programs in destinations that include Egypt, Maldives, and the Canary Islands. In addition to working with owners and operators of beach resorts, the company has extensive expertise in devising events at spas and ski resorts.

Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket has 500 metres of beach frontage on Mai Khao Beach, the longest stretch of sand on Phuket Island, and features family-sized accommodation.

The resort has been designed to blend in with its ecologically sensitive environment, and has its own green systems that ensure the natural resources of the area are conserved.

Although this part of Phuket is known for its extensive areas of natural and undisturbed beauty, the resort is only 15 minutes away from Phuket International Airport.

Centara Hotels & Resorts is Thailand’s leading operator of hotels, with 46 deluxe and first-class properties covering all the major tourist destinations in Thailand.

New Yoga program at all Six Senses Spas

Yoga2

SIX SENSES SPAS is launching a series of yogic programs to meet the growing demand for  authentic and millennia-old healing practices that deliver the optimum body and mind balance, Discover Yoga and Yogic Detox programs are now available at all spas at Six Senses resorts as well as select Six Senses partner spas.

In the third quarter of 2014, Yogic Sleep will be incorporated into the Six Senses Spa Yogic Program series. The brand-wide initiative showcases Six Senses Spas’ commitment to delivering holistic, results-driven programs, which bring together the expertise and skills of in-house yoga masters with the healing properties of the surrounding environment.

While the core elements of yogic programs are similar across every Six Senses Spa, they will be delivered in the individual spa’s unique location and enhanced with a dash of local charm to deliver optimum results.

Discover Yoga is ideal for novices and those wishing to try a new form of body and mind exercise.  The main goal is to develop an understanding of how the body engages in each posture while the yoga master guides one’s awareness to specific areas and aspects of the practice to enhance the body’s natural intuition.

Stress release, improved flexibility plus a stronger and more powerful body are additional benefits you can expect from the program. Hatha yoga practised during the stay focuses on gentle moves with a minimum and effortless flow between each pose.

Private sessions of guided meditation and breathing exercise called pranayama (breathing) will help regulate the pace of breath, relax and maintain the steadiness of the body, leading to clearer mind and better co-ordination during yoga practice.

A selection of Six Senses signature massages and energy treatments has been included in the program to enhance the results. Yogic Detox is suitable for more experienced yoga practitioners looking to cleanse the body and mind in a non-invasive way. It draws upon different hatha yoga cleansing techniques including sat kriya (movement and breath exercise) yogic intestinal wash, forceful exhalation breathing and candle flame meditation to cleanse the internal organs and achieve harmony between the major pranic flows.

Aspects of hatha yoga postures known as asanas and more advanced practices of pranayama and meditation are incorporated along with detox treatments to offer “a profound experience”. Each element of this program is introduced and based on a personalized assessment and guest’s condition.

Anna Bjurstam, vice-president, Six Senses Spa, said“We are delighted to launch a brand-wide yoga program that allows Six Senses guests to experience yoga in a deeper and more profound form. Due to the high quality of yoga master talent we have throughout Six Senses, we have been able to roll this initiative out on a global basis and personalize each program through private sessions of yoga, breathing and meditation.”

The launch of Six Senses Spa Yogic Programs is supported by Dorelal Singh, a leading yoga practitioner trained at the Bihar School of Yoga in India who has spent many years studying, practising and teaching a variety of difference forms of Yoga and Yogic philosophy.  He is responsible for enhancing yoga techniques and practices across all Six Senses spas.

Six Senses Spa Yogic Programs are now available at Six Senses Zighy Bay, Six Senses Laamu, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Six Senses Con Dao, Six Senses Yao Noi and Six Senses Samui as well as partner Six Senses spas at Soneva Kiri in Thailand, Soneva Fushi in the Maldives, Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort in Greece, Penha Longa Resort in Portugal, Puntacana Resort & Club in the Dominican Republic, Jaypee Greens Golf Resort & Spa in India, Sharq Village & Spa in Qatar, Missoni Hotel in Kuwait and the Pacific City Club in Bangkok.

Launching later this year, Yogic  Sleep will focus on yoga nidra, an ancient practice intended to induce full body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. This, combined with guided meditation, breathing techniques and relaxing spa treatments, leads to improved sleep and a very deep quality of relaxation.
