Get ready for Devarana’s  Filipinas Sampaguita Essence

DUSIT THANI’S DEVARANA SPAS in Bangkok and the Philippines have a new two-hour treatment that harnesses the skin-nourishing, relaxing properties of Sampaguita, the national flower of the Philippines and a symbol of purity and love.

Available from April 1 to June 30, 2017, the Filipinas Sampaguita Essence treatment uses the flower’s essential oil, which is similar to jasmine and famed for its sweet and heady fragrance, to both lift one’s mood and relax the senses.

Dusit becomes first hotel group in Thailand to accept WeChat Pay

THAILAND-BASED, GLOBAL HOSPITALITY GROUP Dusit Hotels & Resorts has signed a partnership agreement with Ksher (WeChat Pay Thailand) and Asset Bright Public Company Limited to accept WeChat Pay at Dusit Hotels and Resorts.

WeChat Pay is part of China’s largest mobile instant messaging app, WeChat, which to date has over 800 million active users. It allows users to pay bills, order goods, transfer money to other users, and pay in selected stores directly via smartphone using credit from their personal WeChat Pay accounts.

Under the new partnership agreement, Dusit Hotels & Resorts will be the first hotel group in Thailand to accept WeChat Pay at its restaurants, spas, participating outlets, and for hotel rooms upon check-out, initially at its owned properties in Thailand and subsequently its other properties around the world. Users will be able to pay their hotel bills by simply scanning a QR code to have the relevant fee deducted from their accounts.

Authorized by the Bank of Thailand, Asset Bright Public Company Limited will process all e-payments made via WeChat Pay at Dusit hotels in Thailand. Ksher, meanwhile, will implement and maintain the WeChat Pay system, including providing online security and technical support.

According to figures released by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), 8.75 million Chinese tourists visited Thailand in 2016, and Chinese visitors now account for 27% of all foreign travellers to Thailand.

Dusit Hotels & Resorts believes implementing WeChat Pay at its owned properties in Thailand will prove an attractive proposition for Chinese visitors who are well aware of the security and convenience that WeChat Pay affords.

“In China’s top-tier cities, approximately 90% of stores now accept WeChat Pay as a payment method and the platform’s reach is starting to expand globally”, said Lim Boon Kwee, COO of Dusit Hotels & Resorts.

In addition to all Dusit hotels in China, WeChat Pay is now accepted at all Dusit-owned hotels in Thailand, including Dusit Thani Bangkok, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, Dusit Thani Pattaya, Dusit Thani Hua Hin, DusitPrincess Korat, DusitPrincess Chiang Mai, DusitPrincess Srinakarin Bangkok, and dusitD2Chiang Mai.

Dusit Hotels & Resorts will also introduce the service at its international properties in the near future. In celebration of the launch, from now through Sept. 30, 2017, Dusit Hotels & Resorts will offer an exclusive Dusit WeChat Pay package of up to 40% off regular room rates at its owned hotels in Thailand. Guests must use WeChat Pay to qualify for this package, which also includes breakfast, and is bookable via Dusit’s WeChat account.

 

SALA Hospitality unveils new beachfront resort on Koh Samui

SALA HOSPITALITY’S latest addition – SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort –  will open in November 2017.

Located on a 120-metre beach in north Chaweng, the debut Beach Wing will comprise 52 pool villas and pool suites featuring private pools between 18 and 46 sqm in size.

The first phase will also include The Beach House open-air beachfront restaurant, Beach Bar, and a beachfront pool.

The second phase, “ Garden Wing“, will open at the end of 2018, and welcome the addition of 83 more guest rooms, pool villas and pool suites, as well as the SALA Spa and SALA Gym, a second swimming pool with pool bar, and an open-air show kitchen experience.

New general manager at Centara Hotel Hat Yai

MANOON WUTTI, former resident manager at Khum Phaya Resort & Spa, Centara Boutique Collection , has been appointed general manager of Centara Hotel Hat Yai by Centara Hotels and Resorts.

Mr. Manoon has been working in the hospitality business for more than 30 years,  gained his expertise and solid experience from working with several hotel brands such as Evason Hua Hin, Melati Beach Resort & Spa Samui and Siripanna Villa Resort & Spa Chiangmai. He started his first roles at Centara as F&B Manager of several Centara resorts.

In 2012, he was appointed executive assistant manager at Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Khon Kaen before moving to Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Udon Thani Hotel as resident manager.

His work and contribution at Khum Phaya were instrumental in the hotel receiving its latest accreditation of  “Thailand MICE Venue Standard 2016-2018 by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau” (TCEB).

“Mr. Manoon is an invaluable member of the team at Centara Hotels & Resorts. Dusit International to manage new business hotel north of Bangkok

DUSIT INTERNATIONAL has signed a management consultancy agreement with Sanguantas Development Company Limited to operate dusitD2 Chaengwattana, an upscale business hotel in the north of Bangkok near Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and a range of key business, leisure and MICE destinations.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s tech-savvy, hyper-connected travellers, the hotel will comprise 200 guest rooms and suites set over 23 floors, and will feature amongst its facilities a rooftop international restaurant and bar, a rooftop infinity swimming pool, fitness centre, and a large banqueting facility offering panoramic views of Bangkok.

The property will feature a striking cantilevered design featuring tiered gardens. The proposed interior will provide contemporary comfort and convenience enhanced by the latest technology, and all touchpoints will be driven by Dusit’s signature gracious service.

CentralPlaza Chaengwattana, a hub of dining, shopping and entertainment, is only 300 metres away, while other local landmarks include ISB International School, World Medical Center Hospital, and the Government Complex, which houses the Immigration Department and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

DMK is only 30 minutes away by car, and Impact Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center (IMPACT) can be reached within 15 minutes.

The Pink Line Mass Transit Monorail System is slated to open in the same year as the hotel with a station located nearby. This will link with the city’s BTS Skytrain system to offer convenient access to all of Bangkok’s key attractions.

Celebrate Songkran at Four Seasons Chiang Mai

ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR FEATIVALS in Thailand is the Songkran, which attracts hundreds thousands of visitors every year. It’s really different.

Every April, Thailand ushers in a brand-new year in stunning, vibrant style with the festival of Songkran: a celebration like no other – from its sacred ancestral rituals to the spirited aquatic games in streets across the country.

The use of water holds a special place in these ceremonies: it is believed to grant good luck, bring much-needed rain, and wash away past sins.

Chiang Mai is the best place to ring in the Thai New Year, with the festivities lasting an entire week and featuring many a unique sight.

The old town, fringed by the moat, is the heart of Songkran celebrations in the city, where revelers begin splashing each other with water at dawn, and the merriment lasts until the sun goes down.
