Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas partners with Timeshifter

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has partnered with Timeshifter to improve guests’ traveling experience. Guests booking directly with Six Senses will get access to the Timeshifter jet lag app, which is developed with Harvard Medical School Associate Professor Steven Lockley, and based on the latest research in sleep and circadian neuroscience.

Timeshifter, which named Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas their official hotel partner, offers highly personalized jet lag plans based on the traveler’s sleep pattern, chronotype, flight plan, and optional preferences such as pre-travel adjustment or the use of melatonin for an even faster adaptation.

Timeshifter incorporates a real world “practicality” filter, ensuring that the advice is realistic and easy to follow; there is also a unique Quick Turnaround feature for business travelers who want to be at their best during short business trips that are not long enough to allow full adjustment.

A notification system provides simple yet powerful advice, even while in flight. Using Timeshifter is a straightforward and empowering experience, and requires no special equipment.

The algorithm behind the new Timeshifter app is already helping astronauts, elite athletes, and top CEOs eliminate jet lag, and perform at their very best. Now, this much-needed tool is available for everyone.

“We all love to feel good when traveling on business or pleasure, but when flying long distances jet lag can cause stress, fatigue, moodiness and restless nights. We’re delighted to partner with Timeshifter and to provide our guests with a state-of-the-art tool so they can get the most out of their time when staying with Six Senses and to be their best after they arrive back home,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas.

Jet lag is caused when the sleep-wake and light-dark cycle shift too quickly for the 24-hour circadian clock in the brain to adapt.

Timeshifter not only provides advice to alleviate the disruptive symptoms of jet lag such as insomnia and sleepiness, but addresses the underlying circadian disruption by rapidly resynchronizing the circadian clock to the new time zone and reducing the negative impact of jet lag on other brain and body functions.

“The partnership between Six Senses and Timeshifter is showing what the future of luxury travel can be. By combining the Six Senses Integrated Wellness experience with the Timeshifter jet lag app, based on the latest in sleep and circadian neuroscience, guests will enjoy their vacations even more and perform at their very best on business trips,” said Mickey Beyer-Clausen, CEO of Timeshifter.

Guests who book a stay through SixSenses.com, via email or phone will be given a special code in their reservation confirmation so they can unlock a complimentary jet lag plan inside the Timeshifter iOS or Android app.

The brand’s overarching philosophy, Six Senses Integrated Wellness, provides the best base possible to help guest flourish, in tune with their natural flow – from a wide range of signature massages to high-tech science and high-touch therapies, and from the food guests eat to the way they sleep and the experts they meet.

Wellness is integrated into the whole guest experience, and becomes a joyful way of life. And those guests who wish to go further, can take the non-invasive wellness screening and let Six Senses experts assess their health and lifestyle and recommend a personalized program in steps that they feel comfortable with.

Dusit introduces new hotel brand for millennial-minded travellers

ASAI Hotels, a distinctive new brand designed to link curious, millennial-minded travellers with authentic local experiences in vibrant cities and resort destinations worldwide, will be launched by Dusit International early next year

Set to officially launch in in the first quarter of 2019 with its first hotel in Bangkok’s Chatuchak Market, ASAI Hotels embraces a sustainable, community-focused concept, with each property designed to reflect the culture and heritage of its location through collaborations with local artisans.

In line with the four core pillars of the brand “Thoughtful Essentials, Common Areas and locally inspired and connected community, “ each hotel will feature compact rooms (approximately 15 sq m), whose contemporary design will emphasize key features like superior quality beds and high pressure rain showers.

A large mixed-use space, meanwhile, will include a cozy and efficient work space, a leisure area, and a restaurant concept curated by local chefs who champion sustainability.

The upcoming Chatuchak hotel, which is the only hotel to be located within the world-famous market, includes an eatery developed by Bangkok-based chefs and restaurateurs, Jarrett Wrisley and Paolo Vitaletti, whose own restaurants, Soul Food Mahanakorn and Appia, are known for their sustainable approach to cooking.

Their menu at ASAI Chatuchak will highlight produce from Thailand’s Royal Projects.

Each ASAI hotel worldwide will leverage technology to streamline the booking and stay experience. This includes the implementation of self check-in kiosks, and exclusive online guides that link guests with authentic local experiences and lesser-known, but Instagram-worthy, attractions.

ASAI will also link with selected local online start-ups, such as TakeMeTour in Thailand, to offer personalized excursions.

Staff at each property will be hired for personality as much as experience, and they will very much be the face of the brand, expected to be passionate about their neighbourhoods and always ready to share their knowledge with guests.

Alongside ASAI Chatuchak, five more properties are already confirmed in the pipeline. This includes three ASAI Hotels in Cebu, Philippines (in Lapu-Lapu, Oslob, and the city centre); one hotel in Yangon, Myanmar (in the historic Yankin Township); and a second hotel in Bangkok (in the stylish Sathorn district). All are expected to open throughout 2019.

ASAI Hotels’ management team hopes to secure over 10 properties in the pipeline by the end of the year across Southeast Asia and Japan. This includes owned and joint venture properties as well as properties under Hotel Management Agreements. Australia, Europe and Central America are also on the radar for potential projects.

ASAI is a new concept for Dusit that will leverage the company’s 70 years of hospitality heritage to deliver a new kind of stay experience in vibrant neighbourhoods worldwide, said Siradej Donavanik, managing director of Asai Holdings Co., Ltd., Dusit International.

ASAI is not budget travel but “an affordable lifestyle brand offering something new, different and bespoke. Our collaborations with local artisans in each destination will ensure each stay is unique, memorable, and definitely worthy of our slogan “ Live Local.

“Everywhere we set foot we will always ensure we have a positive impact.”

“In line with our three-pronged strategy for balance, expansion and diversification, the introduction of ASAI Hotels will add an innovative new revenue stream to our company that complements our traditional hospitality offerings and actively responds to the needs and desires of millennial-minded travellers,” said Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO, Dusit International.

“Recent detailed studies in America have shown that, alongside a desire for local experiences, a majority 35% of this segment prefer to stay in luxury and upscale resorts. The majority also placed cost and security as chief concerns when booking accommodation. ASAI is perfectly positioned to meet these needs, and we look forward to making the brand a huge success.”

Dusit International is currently in a significant growth phase which will see the company’s current portfolio of 27 hotels surpass 70 worldwide within the next four years.

The company’s other hotel brands, which cover luxury and mid-market segments, include Dusit Thani, Dusit Devarana, Dusit Princess, and dusitD2.

It is to accommodate the modern-day lifestyle of the most discerning wanderlust souls, the 41-metre, two-cabin vessel epitomizes a fine balance between playful mingling and reflective solitude.

With ample indoor and outdoor living spaces to comfortably accommodate families or small groups, Gypsy also features a communal mid-ship lounge, bar and dining area, as well as a separate veranda style lounge with an al fresco panorama deck at the bow of the boat.

For Bangkok based design consultant Jiraparnn Tokeeree from TOUCHABLE, furniture and interior design is more approachable and touchable than the abstract concept of art – for her, art is all around us and she adapts aesthetics and artistic aspects into her designs in order to accentuate this notion

For the Gypsy interior design project she fashioned a harmonious social atmosphere of modern homely design, juxtaposed with hints of the glamorisZd bygone era of romantic voyaging.

Wood and thatch throughout blend seamlessly with the verdant surrounds of the Mekong River’s shores through floor-to-ceiling windows and from open sun decks.  The boat’s contemporary designed interiors feature tongue and groove wood panelled ceilings, floors and walls; etched wooden cupboards and closets; solid wood tables; dark woven leather seating; and oversized bamboo daybeds. Local handwoven ornaments adorn the spaces and freshly cut flowers create a naturally soothing ambience, while Thai silk and fabrics drape the furniture in bold colours and lustrous appeal.

he well-appointed spacious sleeping cabins are fully air-conditioned and consists of a king bed and twin beds configurations, each with an en-suite shower and vanity.  Intimate touches of bathrobes and slippers; crisp white bed linen; regular and feather pillows; and a choice of exquisite bathroom amenities provide convenient functions with the comfort of home.  A hair dryer, vanity and make up mirror are provided, while a personal safe promises in-room safety.

Cruising along the Mekong River from near the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort in Chiang Rai to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang conjures up images of old Indochina, of languorous days gone by, teeming with exhilarating river adventure, mystical temples and stunning untouched scenery.

Voyagers will be captivated by the languid river lifestyle, soaking in nature’s wonders along the Mekong River Valley, marvelling at encounters with fascinating local cultures as they stop at villages and attractions along the way.

Daily shore excursions offer a mix of age old culture, local immersion and adrenaline charged adventure and include guided jungle treks; mountain biking in Ban Houy Phalam; freshwater fishing; a traditional weaving workshop at Ban Baw; Laos whisky tasting; a visit to a little known elephant camp in Pak Beng; and the Pak Ou caves – with its breath taking limestone karst formations, these two caves have been gifted thousands of Buddha images, left by pilgrims over the centuries.

Even while cruising the placid waters, guests can enjoy a range of wellness, cultural and fun diversions on board, including yoga; folk dancing; learning to speak the Laos language; weaving workshop; and cooking class.

After an adventurous day of exploring Southeast Asia’s most beguiling waterway, the boat’s open decks offer a welcome respite to savour a decadent Champagne high tea while watching the world go by.

As the sun sets, cocktails on the panorama deck are the order of the day before retreating to the dining area for an evening of fine dining and imbibing, courtesy of the on-board chef.

Rates start from US$ 5,450 for a three nights, four-day cruise from Luang Prabang, Laos, to the Golden Triangle, Thailand; and from US$6,950 for a two nights, three days cruise from the Golden Triangle to Luang Prabang.  Rates are per boat for up to four guests and include all on board meals; welcome reception with canapés; soft beverages, water, beer, selected wines and coffee and tea; Wi-Fi; shore excursions, English guide, entrance fees and transfers; on board activities; return airport or hotel transfers; and gratuities.  Children aged four years and under travel free.
