Centara Grand Beach Samui to be updated and refurbished

CENTARA GRAND BEACH RESORT SAMUI is being updated and refurbished, starting this June. The classic resort on Chaweng Beach will retain its colonial-style charm but benefit from major improvements before re-opening in 2020.

“Even a hotel with the fabled history of this one benefits from refreshed design and innovative additions,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat. CEO of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“When you are one of Samui’s most famous properties, you don’t rest on your laurels. Delighting our guests requires creative thinking and continuous improvement.”

The resort will stay open only until June 1, 2019, then close for the renovation work.

Centara plans to redesign all rooms and suites, add luxury villas, and introduce exciting new dining concepts and services. The objective is to retain the unique, classic charm of the existing hotel, but transform it to a new level of luxury.

Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui has been welcoming guests for 23 years, during which time it has witnessed the development of the surrounding town and island into one of Thailand’s most popular holiday destinations.

Thanks to its prime location, Thai-style hospitality and exceptional facilities, it has stood the test of time consistently, winning a host of international awards and proving one of the true Grande Dame hotels of Samui.

Six Senses Yao Noi reintroduces The View

THE VIEW, A NEWLY-REVAMPED premium one-bedroom villa at Six Senses Yao Noi is now welcoming guests. Ideal for couples, especially honeymooners and those celebrating a special occasion, it provides an abode of comfort, exclusivity, and space with a touch of fun and quirky elements.

Originally created as a celebration venue, the ultra-spacious 2,422 square-foot (225 square-metre) villa now boasts an infinity-edge pool, a pool shack, private cinema, sunken dining area, plus a mezzanine floor and a fitness studio among its new refinements.

Stepping into the villa, guests feel in harmony with nature due with its Thai-inspired interiors infused with a contemporary twist. A newly-added waterfall is visible though a glass floor in the bedroom as it flows beneath the king-sized bed, connecting the occupants with the soothing sight and sounds of flowing water.

Synonymous with its name, The View offers a 360-degree view of the surroundings including a breathtaking panoramic view of the iconic limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay, which is best admired with a loved one while lazing on the pool’s trampoline net with a cocktail in hand.

As all main walls are glass, the ocean, jungle and waterfall can be seen along with the different hues of the sky – from inside or outside the villa.

Although a full range of facilities is available in the resort, guests who check into The View may find it hard to leave. Sunrises are spectacular and a ‘get-me-going’ basket, which includes choices from a healthy breakfast menu, are available for early risers who want to be inspired by the break of dawn.

In-villa dining for The View also goes beyond the ordinary as lunches can be enjoyed from a floating tray in the pool while barbecue dinners are served by a private chef in the sunken dining area after pre-dinner drinks overlooking a romantic reflection of the sunset on the bay.

The pool shack is a cocktail master’s dream, where a ‘cocktail of the day’ mix of ingredients and recipe are sure to inspire. Martini lovers can also make their own – shaken or stirred – and enjoy a perfect James Bond moment.

A GEM (guest experience maker) is on hand to personally tailor the guests’ journey throughout their stay.

“Based on comments we’ve received from previous guests of The View, we’ve realized its potential and decided to upgrade and enhance it for our guests,” commented Graham Grant, general manager of Six Senses Yao Noi.

“From the outset we had the intention to create the region’s ultimate one-bedroom villa experience. This villa was always called The View and for a good reason, it offers the most exceptional viewpoints across to Phang Nga Bay. It makes the perfect romantic setting for couples to enjoy each other’s company while being captivated by the lush landscape.”

“The views are breathtaking from every point in the villa. We have integrated some new elements with our upgrades and the most exciting is to create a journey that will engage in moments of relaxation, fun and surprise. We truly see this as a place to reconnect and be inspired.”

Designed by the creative team from Six Senses who are adept at crafting out-of-the-ordinary experiences, together with Six Senses Yao Noi and with sustainability and wellness to the fore, The View is set to be the best premium one-bedroom villa in the region.

From now through Sept.30, 2019, guests of The View who stay a minimum of three nights are treated to a private in-villa barbecue dinner for two people. For pricing or enquiries, contact reservations-yaonoi@sixsenses.com.

Centara signs agreement with Korea’s KEB Hana Card

Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to co-operate with KEB Hana Card, one of Korea’s largest credit card companies, to promote Centara awareness and offer exclusive benefits to KEB Hana’s 10 million cardholders via KEB Hana Card channels.

The two companies will begin working on the strategic alliance in January.

Centara expects the partnership to raise awareness of its 68 city hotels and tropical resorts in Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean and Middle East, by promoting the brand to millions of KEB Hana cardholders in South Korea and 20 other countries such as the USA, United Kingdom, Japan and more.

“The marketing and PR access to this huge international audience should have significant benefits for both us and KEB Hana’s cardholders,” said Centara CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat. “They are well-travelled and we will introduce them to Centara’s Thai-style hospitality, family-friendliness, and unique destinations.”

As a result of this agreement, KEB Hana Cardholders will receive exclusive benefits at Centara’s Hotels and Resorts across Southeast Asia. These will be accessed through KEB Hana Card’s exclusive service platform, ‘GLOBAL MUST HAVE’.

Cardholders booking rooms at Centara Hotels & Resorts properties will receive a special discount on suite rooms of up to 30%.

The alliance will accommodate the growing demand for card usage and benefits for international travel, particularly among young adults. KEB Hana uses many modern channels to communicate with its users, including newsletters, websites, mobile apps, email and text messages.

“We offer our cardholders unique benefits and we look forward to promoting exclusive Centara offers for them,” said Hong, Jang-Eui, executive director of global business division, KEB Hana Card Co., Ltd. “As they travel overseas, they will find advantages to using our card at Centara’s wide variety of hotels and resorts.”

The agreement may also provide a springboard to Centara’s sister companies under the Central Group, introducing South Koreans to one of Asia’s most successful retail networks.
