Centara launches  650 Million THB Room Upgrade at Flagship Bangkok Hotel

CENTARA HOTELS & RESORTS has launched a much-anticipated renovation program at its five-star flagship, Centara Grand at CentralWorld Bangkok. The company is investing 650 million THB in the room improvement project, which will see a complete floor-to-ceiling renovation of all 505 guestrooms and suites, an undertaking that will happen two floors at a time to avoid disruption to the guest experience.

“This is an exciting project and a significant investment in Centara’s flagship hotel. The renovation program will enhance the guest experience with fully updated and refreshed guestroom interiors, amenities and advanced technologies, ensuring we will continue to deliver the kind of contemporary luxury experience that customers have come to expect from one of the market’s leading five-star properties said Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO, Centara Hotels & Resorts.

Centra is working with leading design firm P49 on the project, who are known for their high quality design solutions for luxury hospitality, residential and retail clients across the globe. The designs for the new room interiors draw inspiration from Thai artisans, textures and patterns and will create a modern and contemporary aesthetic that is in keeping with both the vibrant and international location of the hotel, as well as the brand’s inimitable Thai roots. Guestrooms, including bathrooms and furniture will be totally redesigned and upgraded and technology and connectivity will be installed at a standard reflecting the demands of today’s sophisticated travellers.

Centara Grand at CentralWorld Bangkok marked its 10-year anniversary earlier this year. Throughout its 10-year history, the 57-storey hotel has been a destination-of-choice among international tourists, business travellers and visitors attending events at the adjoining Bangkok Convention Centre. Along with spectacular views of the city from its guestrooms, restaurants and rooftop bars, and a direct connection to the adjacent CentralWorld mall, the hotel sits in the very heart of Bangkok’s shopping and business district.

The room improvement project is expected to complete in April 2021, and the hotel will be fully operational and carrying out business as usual throughout the project duration. This exciting upgrade will further reaffirm Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld’s position among the pre-eminent leisure and business hotels in Asia.

Dusit International to open its first ASAI Hotel in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown district

DUSIT INTERNATIONAL has signed a long-term lease agreement with I Am Chinatown Co., Ltd. to develop and operate ASAI Bangkok Chinatown in the heart of the city’s renowned Chinatown district.

Slated to open early next year, ASAI Bangkok Chinatown will be the first hotel to open under ASAI Hotels, Dusit’s new affordable lifestyle brand for millennial-minded travellers, in a prime location adjacent to Yaowarat Road – one of the world’s most renowned street food destinations.

Immersing guests in the old-world atmosphere of this bustling district, the property will offer easy access to many fascinating temples and shrines, various art galleries and museums, hip bars and coffee shops, lively fresh markets, and an incredible selection of streetside eateries.

The new Wat Mangkon MRT (underground) station, which connects the area to the rest of the city, is only 100 metres from the property.

In line with the four key pillars of the ASAI brand – Thoughtful Essentials, Common Ground, Authentic Connections, and a Sustainable Ecosystem – ASAI Bangkok Chinatown will feature 224 thoughtfully compact rooms (ranging from 18 – 22 sq m) whose contemporary, Thai-Chinese-inspired design will emphasize the essentials, such as superior quality beds and high-pressure rain showers.

A large communal space, meanwhile, will include a comfortable and efficient workspace, a fitness centre, a bar highlighting craft beers and creative cocktails, and a pop-up restaurant concept featuring a seasonal farm-driven menu curated in collaboration with Paolo Vitaletti and Jarrett Wrisley of Appia, Peppina and Soul Food Mahanakorn restaurants in Bangkok. The hotel’s chefs will also be able to use fresh herbs and vegetables from an exclusive on-site organic garden.

To further promote sustainable agriculture, the hotel has partnered with Akha Ama, a socially empowered enterprise growing coffee in northern Thailand, to source 100% Arabica beans from the project.

“Our investment in ASAI Bangkok Chinatown highlights our commitment to providing broadened experiences for our customers across the lodging spectrum and delivering sustainable, enduring value for all our stakeholders,” said Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO, Dusit International.

“With its strong community focus and strategic location in one of Bangkok’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, the hotel is perfectly positioned to capture the attention of millennial-minded travellers, establish our presence in the affordable lifestyle market, and prepare the ASAI brand

“Each ASAI hotel is being carefully designed to reflect the fabric of the neighbourhood and appeal to the needs and expectations of today’s generation of travellers and consumers who are constantly on the lookout for authentic, local experiences, as well as brands with value-driven credentials which they can connect with in more meaningful ways,” said  Siradej Donavanik, managing director, ASAI Hotels.

“ASAI Bangkok Chinatown’s distinctive offerings, fascinating surrounds, and excellent location near the new underground station make it a strong debut for the brand. We now look forward to introducing travellers and locals alike to our vibrant neighbourhood with its endless array of hidden delights.”

Alongside ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, five more properties are already confirmed in the pipeline. This includes three ASAI Hotels in Cebu, Philippines (in Mactan, Oslob, and IT Park); one hotel in Yangon, Myanmar (in the historic Yankin Township); and a second hotel in Bangkok (in the stylish Sathorn district). These properties are expected to open from mid-2020 onwards.

Rosewood opens in the heart of Bangkok

ROSEWOOD BANGKOK,a striking new landmark for the capital, has opened as an intimate, ultra-luxury hotel on Ploenchit Road in heart of the city’s prime central business and retail district.

As the 27th property in the growing global network for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is the brand’s second destination in Thailand.

Rosewood’s A Sense of Place philosophy is expressed, with a design that

honors rich Thai culture while celebrating the cutting-edge creativity and contemporary design ethos of the dynamic capital.

“Rosewood Bangkok exemplifies a perfect marriage of destination and Rosewood’s core concept of a modern ultra-luxury hotel experience,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO, Rosewood Hotel Group.

“We are thrilled for travellers and residents to experience the warmth of Thai hospitality and the dynamism and beauty of its culture within such a fresh, exciting and radiant retreat. ”The silhouette of the 30-storey stand alone property is a dramatic addition to the Bangkok skyline.

Two graceful, connected structures have been combined to create a new icon for the capital.

The building’s form is inspired by the wai—the charming Thai gesture of hands pressed together in greeting–and is itself an expression of the Thai capital’s growing influence as a design, fashion and creative hub in the region.

Rosewood Bangkok is situated within an enclave of embassies and sleek new office towers, surrounded by Thai fashion designer boutiques and is just steps from Central Embassy, the capital’s most luxurious upscale shopping mall.

“Thai spirit is infused into every aspect of the Rosewood Bangkok experience,” says Thomas Harlander, the hotel’s managing director.

“Like the capital itself, the hotel is creatively contemporary, multi-layered, richly cultured and warmly welcoming–a fitting springboard for every guest’s own personal journey to discover the heart and soul of the city.

”In a nod to the Rosewood brand’s origins as a modern-day aristocratic manor, visitors arrive into their urban sanctuary via a private driveway signalling their entry to a world seemingly far removed from the bustling din of the city.

“The hotel’s contemporary design ethos is immediately communicated by the entry way’s modern metal work sculpture in the form of wai spelled in ancient Thai alphabet by artist Jiandyin, and the tumbling waterfall hints of the refreshing retreat within.

The innovative design and architecture of Rosewood Bangkok has allowed the creation of unique rooms and suites throughout the entire property, with no two floors sharing the same configuration, allowing for maximum flexibility, privacy and intimacy. Floorplates range from one to a maximum of 12 rooms per floor.

The hotel also showcases works of established and emerging Thai artists.

Rosewood Bangkok’s guestrooms fuse elegantly modern interiors with panoramic views of the metropolis. The hotel features 159 rooms including 34 suites and studios as well as three signature “houses” which also boast their own private pools and terraces

The property also includes a number of bespoke signature suites, studios and houses, which boast private meditation areas, terraces, outdoor plunge pools as special amenities.

Dynamic Dining and Stylish Libations Rosewood Bangkok features four innovative restaurant and bars, including a brasserie, signature Chinese restaurant, top-floor speakeasy bar and the first upscale organic café situated in a Bangkok hotel.

Rosewood Spa Sense, A Rosewood Spa occupies the entire sixth floor.

A welcoming and luxurious retreat for individuals seeking peace and tranquility, it offers a bespoke approach to personal well-being, drawing from the long heritage of Thailand’s healing culture.

Its treatments revive ancient Thai beauty rituals and “lost remedies,” paired with the latest innovations from skincare lines EviDenS de Beauté and Maison Caulières. Three single and two double treatment rooms offer a getaway of serenity for rejuvenation, relaxation and the pursuit of well-being.
