Dusit International to manage new business hotel north of Bangkok

DUSIT INTERNATIONAL has signed a management consultancy agreement with Sanguantas Development Company Limited to operate dusitD2 Chaengwattana, an upscale business hotel in the north of Bangkok near Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and a range of key business, leisure and MICE destinations.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s tech-savvy, hyper-connected travellers, the hotel will comprise 200 guest rooms and suites set over 23 floors, and will feature amongst its facilities a rooftop international restaurant and bar, a rooftop infinity swimming pool, fitness centre, and a large banqueting facility offering panoramic views of Bangkok.

The property will feature a striking cantilevered design featuring tiered gardens. The proposed interior will provide contemporary comfort and convenience enhanced by the latest technology, and all touchpoints will be driven by Dusit’s signature gracious service.

CentralPlaza Chaengwattana, a hub of dining, shopping and entertainment, is only 300 metres away, while other local landmarks include ISB International School, World Medical Center Hospital, and the Government Complex, which houses the Immigration Department and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

DMK is only 30 minutes away by car, and Impact Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center (IMPACT) can be reached within 15 minutes.

The Pink Line Mass Transit Monorail System is slated to open in the same year as the hotel with a station located nearby. This will link with the city’s BTS Skytrain system to offer convenient access to all of Bangkok’s key attractions.

“With completion of the new infrastructure set to coincide with the opening of the hotel, the timing for the project could not be better,” said Dusit International’s Group CEO Suphajee Suthumpun.

“And we will, indeed, have a very exciting product on offer when the doors officially open in 2020. From colourful, inspiring décor, to gracious service inspired by authentic Thai values, the new hotel will provide a comfortable, stylish and convenient option for leisure and business travellers alike, and should prove especially attractive for exhibitors at the nearby convention centre.

“The hotel will also be an ideal venue for meetings in its own right, with state-of-the–art facilities allowing us to cater for a wide range of events. We also hope to leverage our close proximity to the Government Complex by hosting many high level functions at the hotel.”

“Dusit International’s rich hospitality experience speaks for itself and we are delighted to partner with the company for this special project, which really raises the bar for business hotels in the area”, said Apichart Asavarojpanich, CEO of Sanguantas Development.

Any development we become involved in must have the best in design, facilities, and services, including a comprehensive training program for its employees, and Dusit offers all this and more. We are confident the hotel will be a resounding success under Dusit’s management.”

Dusit International currently operates 29 properties in key destinations around the globe. A further 51 projects are already confirmed to open internationally within the next three years.

The company currently operates two hotels in Bangkok – Dusit Thani Bangkok and DusitPrincess Srinakarin Bangkok.

Premiering Six Senses Style — From Yoga Class to On-The-Go Excursions

FOR ANYONE who appreciates high quality and well cut yoga wear, Six Senses is launching a range of exclusive designs, created in collaboration with Ana Heart of London.

A small, bespoke brand renowned for their hip and chic design approach with great attention to detailing, Ana Heart also met the Six Senses criteria of sustainable manufacturing practices.

The collection, which is technically yoga clothes with exceptional cuts, is functional and comfortable, distinctly feminine and with an edgy twist. The eco-friendly fabrics nicely complement the designs to move effortlessly with the body and make every body, shape drop-dead gorgeous.

And due to the simplicity of style and colour palette they are as trendy in a yoga class as they are as essentials of a stylish on-the-go wardrobe. The fabrics are nothing short of amazing. Lyocell is sustainable and with great moisture absorption ability, representing a milestone in the development of environmentally benign textiles.

It starts life as wood pulp and with the magic of nanotechnology in an award-winning closed-loop process that recovers or decomposes all solvents emissions becomes a luxurious fabric that is biodegradable and crease resistant.

Cotton supima has such a soft hand that it is referred to as the cashmere of cottons. Strong and able to carry color brilliance, it is grown on furrowed rows where it can be closely regulated to make it the highest quality cotton available.

Suplex & Quick Dry is a fiber quality developed especially for Ana Heart’s leggings and bras. It offers softness with amazing tension without discomfort and guarantees a dry, supportive experience during yoga practice.

The collection has been designed in three colours created especially for Six Senses:  Charcoal, white and indigo.

The garments are sized from small to extra-large and comprise a comprehensive selection of pieces from racer and strappy bras to a choice of tanks, ballet leggings and sweatpants.

Five entirely new and exclusive takes are a wrap top, a see-through sleeved and laced top, a top with waist-tie, leggings also with a waist tie, and a sweater with laced shoulders and side vents.

According to Amanda Ibgui, cofounder of Ana Heart, each piece has a small but distinctive touch of gold or silver-coloured thread embroidery that stands for each woman’s individuality, for her inner light. This somewhat discreet detail is like a little secret sign, a reminder to be kind to oneself.

As a special treat, the range also includes a cotton tote-cum-yoga bag that is made for carrying everything a woman needs  a  smartphone, keys, makeup, a book and a bottle of water. Currently the Six Senses Yoga Line by Ana Heart, which is produced in Europe, is available at nine spas:

Six Senses Douro Valley, Six Senses Laamu, Six Senses Yao Noi, Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Six Senses Spa Courchevel, Six Senses Spa Doha at Sharq Village, Six Senses Spa Koh Kood, Six Senses Spa Kunfunadhoo, Six Senses Spa Marbella, and will be rolled out across the remaining spas this year.

Anantara Spa Siam Bangkok celebrates Thai Heritage with its exclusive Siam 2482 Signature treatment

THE SANCTUARY of Anantara Spa at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel immerses travellers in Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, journeys move beyond relaxation to offer nostalgic pampering, highlighted by the signature 90-minute Siam 2482 treatment.

This unique therapy is exclusive to Anantara Spa Siam Bangkok and was inspired by the Kingdom of Thailand’s history – BE 2482 is the year the kingdom changed its name from Siam to Thailand.

To commemorate this event, Anantara Spa developed a signature massage to reflect the cultural fusion of that time, incorporating healing traditions from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and China.

Four distinctive massage styles provide unique pathways to holistic well-being. Two bamboo sticks are used to invigorate the circulation. Stretching and pressure point techniques enhance flexibility and energy flow.

Eight herbal compresses, each wrapped in a fabric of healing indigo, soothe tension, aches and pains. Foot reflexology promotes over-all wellness by stimulating reflex zones on the feet that correspond with organs in the upper body. The intuitive hands of each highly-skilled therapist coax guests into deep relaxation.

Combining ancient techniques with a signature oil blend, the Siam 2482 treatment uses Anantara Divine Peace Detoxifying Massage Oil, helping to combat stress and detoxify with juniper, lemongrass and lemon oils, while nourishing skin with sweet almond and sesame oils.

This therapeutic oil blend is part of Anantara Spa’s award-winning product range which is entirely paraben, SLS, SLES, silicone and preservative free, and crafted from 100% natural pure plant essential oils and extracts that have been carefully sourced throughout Asia.

A signature experience from start to end, the Siam 2482 treatment concludes with a mindfulness ritual. Two gold leaf patches are placed on the wish area of the left arm and left side of the chest to encourage a quiet, peaceful state of mind.

Trisara unveils its new Jara Spa

TRIARA PHUKET’S NEWLY-RENAMED JARA SPA has a wonderful full name – “Jara Spa at the Garden of the Third Heaven” – that takes guests on a journey of balanced well-being.

Its holistic five- pillar philosophy is inspired by the century old Ficus tree at the heart of Trisara.

“True well-being is achieved through the understanding and embodiment of the five pillars in relation to the Ficus tree which has become the philosophy of our spa experience”, said Sophon O-In, spa manager at Trisara.

The five pillars are rejuvenation through nutrition and balance of energy represented by the roots of the tree as they provide the rest of the tree with stability, nourishment and grounding.

Fitness and physical renewal are represented by the trunk of the tree as a healthy core providing strength and balance.

Mind & body is represented by the spirituality of the tree which has long been the chosen home of the spirit house, a shrine to the protective spirit of the Trisara land.

Eternal youth through anti-ageing practices is represented by the branches of the tree which continue to grow and produce flowers as long as the branches are healthy.

And lastly, the beauty and the simple power of pleasure are represented by the healthy leaves and fruit bared when the rest of the tree is taken care of.

The new spa entrance and lobby have been redesigned and opened up to embrace views of the magnificent Ficus tree, and a new post-treatment room has been added to enhance the spa experience.

“We recognized that many of our guests were not ready for their journey to end once the treatment was finished so we have added a post treatment room where guests can unwind for as long as they like in a soothing environment”, said Sophon O-In.

Jara Spa is truly holistic, focusing on not just traditional beauty and massage but also placing equal importance on caring for the mind and body.

The menu is divided into the five pillars so guests can easily select the best treatment based on the outcome they are looking for. Tailor-made discoveries allow guests to achieve total wellbeing by addressing each of the five pillars.

The “Jara Local” discovery for instance includes a Thai massage lesson, Samunpai Scrub & Wrap, Thai thermal massage, Thai Stretching and a walking meditation usually practised by Buddhist monks.

Guests are guided every step of the way by a skilled spa consultant who helps to create a tailor-made experience for each individual using interesting and unique treatments that bring out the best of local customs and practices.

The Royal Trisara six-hand massage has always been a signature of the spa because it is so indulgent, while the Thai Thermal massage is inspired by ancient Thai post-natal treatment, which employs the use of heated Himalayan salts in clay posts.

The spa packages combine key experiences that address some or all of the five pillars whilst also responding to today’s hectic way of life.

“Aiming to create a trusting connection, our skilled team of therapists, trainers and consultants will gently guide guests through a highly personalized program and provide them with useful life tools and tips that they can bring home.”

Trisara’s recent awards include:

  • 2017 Gold List of Condé Nast Traveler (Only Resort in Phuket)
  • TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice: #1 Hotel in Thailand
  • Top 100 Resorts: Robb Report
  • Gallivanter’s Guide: Best Resorts Worldwid
  • Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2016

Get ready for a refreshing new spa experience

A NEW AND PIONEERING SPA CONCEPT has launched in Bangkok’s Central Festival Eastville.

The brain child of Centara Hotels & Resorts, ‘Refresh Zone’ offers an innovative retail spa experience packaged in its modern, fun and vibrant façade, which targets the high-volume, value-driven spa industry in shopping centres and stand-alone locations throughout Thailand.

The 2017 openings are scheduled for Central Festival Chiang Mai, Central Festival Udon Thani, CentralWorld in Bangkok and Central Hat Yai, with the company’s business aim to have four spa locations opening every year.

“Refresh Zone reimagines the retail spa concept and reflects our recognition of the modern-minded consumer’s need for convenience, simplicity and of course, revitalization in their fast-paced world,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO of Centara Hotels and Resorts.

“This unique spa concept offers modern Thai treatments that can be undertaken without advanced bookings or lengthy consultations, in a vibrant and immersive environment all Refresh Zone therapists are trained to a high professional standard and the company has instituted a ‘Triple R’ Point system to ensure a consistent culture of high quality service, product and experiential delivery.”

Refresh Zone is designed to refresh your energy, recharge your body and renew your attitude. Its spa therapists are called ‘Massage Magicians’ – they have magic hands (and wands too) and ensure customers walk out re-energized.

The spa offers a ‘one-stop refreshing shop’ where customers get everything they need, even all at the same time, under one roof.

Refresh Zone’s menu consists of treatments targeted at time-poor, tech and new media-savvy retail customers who are looking to combine services for maximum value and efficiency – such as foot massages performed while phones recharge and Segafredo coffee or spa candy are consumed.

The new spa concept store is the first ‘spa club’ in Thailand and there are a number of benefits, including free workshops, treatment discounts, exclusive events and more.

Members of the 1 Card can also redeem points all year round. Refresh Zone’s smart menu of ‘treatment combos’ similarly ensure that no time is wasted – clients can undertake ‘3-in-1 treatments’ in which a flexible trio of therapies can be enjoyed concurrently.

Clients begin their experience within ‘The Portal’ where they can meet with friends, book treatments, buy drinks, snacks and retail items.

‘The Refresh Lounge’ is where customers slip into relaxed mode with foot massages while seated in custom-made chairs complete with charging ports; they then move into ‘The Restyle Studio’, which contains beauty experts who pamper clients with manicures, pedicures, hair washes and re-styles.

For massages, facials and body treatments, clients head to the ‘Revive Pods’ area.

For more information about Refresh Zone, check out the spa’s Facebook fan page: www.facebook.com/refreshzonespa and website www.myresfreshzone.com.

“Supported by extensive resources at Centara Hotels & Resorts, which currently manages more than 30 spas throughout South East Asia and Middle East, as well as the Central Retail Group, Refresh Zone provides a brand new spa experience that matches the lifestyles and evolving demands of new generations of consumers.

“The opening of our first retail spa, and arrival of a very new concept to the market, demonstrates Centara Hotels and Resorts’ relentless efforts in continuing to evolve and thrive in the modern market,” said Mr. Chirathivat.

Four Seasons Samui offers two new coconut-based treatments

four-seasons-samui-spa

IT’S NOT REALLY SURPRISING that the spa at Four Seasons Samui is offering two new coconut-based treatments, considering that Koh Samui is also known as Coconut Island, and that much of the resort is covered by coconut trees.

In fact, every effort was made to avoid cutting down any of the trees during the construction of the resort.

The SPA’s new treatments – Kala Coconut and Tree of Life.

The Kala Coconut, which is one of the spa’s signature treatments, is a unique fragrant, nourishing massage that features a coconut shell and warm streams of coconut oil. It’s described as a medium-to-strong massage that uses flowing, nurturing strokes to ease and soothe your body.

The Tree of Life, a three-hour treatment and one of the spa’s Fragrant Cocooning Rituals, is also coconut fused and is designed to help you recall your roots in a treatment that evokes family rituals as you’re washed with tamarind leaf water and coconut soap, followed by a warm natural coco shell massage with warm streams of coconut oil.
